入社の動機

EYには、プロフェッショナルとして成長するためのサポートが整っており、活躍できる機会が多くあると感じたからです。私は大学卒業後、EY新日本有限責任監査法人に入社し、監査のプロフェッショナルとしてキャリアをスタートしました。チームの一員として業務のイニシアチブを取り、クライアントとの信頼関係構築しながら締切期限の厳守をモットーに専門性の高い業務遂行に励みました。

数年後、自分に適した長期的なキャリアを構築していきたいと考え、EYストラテジー・アンド・コンサルティング株式会社に転籍し、現職に就きました。コンサルティング業界の幅広い案件へのチャレンジは、会計監査での経験も生かすことができます。また、チームの一員として、自分次第で積極的にプロジェクトを成功に導ける自由な社風も魅力です。

仕事内容

ターンアラウンド・アンド・リストラクチャリング・ストラテジーでの案件は幅広く、柔軟に対応することが求められます。そして、さまざまな問題解決に取り組み、質の高いサービスの提供に挑むことが重要になってきます。ある課題に直面した時には、どのように個人として、そしてチームとして、最大限に結果を生み出せるかを考え、日々その課題解決に向けて努めます。仕事を進めていくに当たって心掛けているのは、クライアントに積極的に耳を傾け、ニーズや問題点を予測し、解決に向けてチームとして前進することです。

典型的な1日としては、朝一にその日の目標を設定します。担当案件やクライアントからの要望に対して、改善点や問題点を検討・分析し、計画を立てる作業です。常に課題となるのは、自分がいかにリードするかということです。業務では、自分の意見をしっかりと持ち、積極的に意見交換に参加することも重要です。クライアントに対しては、品質の高いサービスが強く求められることから、どのようにしたら効率的に仕事ができるかを考え、チームとのコラボレーションのバランスを考慮しつつ、自分の能力を発揮することが大切です。

Why did you join EY?

After doing my research of EY and talking with the EY people during my interviews, I strongly believed that EY would provide its employees and partners with immense opportunities to thrive while also being committed to supporting its diverse talents.

I had first joined EY ShinNihon where I was initially raised as an audit professional. This enabled me to work under pressure with strict deadlines while building on the ability to work with my initiatives as part of the engagement teams.

A few years later, I had made an internal transfer to EY Strategy & Consulting (current position). While I valued the experience at my previous position, I sought a wider scope of challenges and opportunities for long-term career growth through the world of consulting in turnaround and restructuring strategy. Here, team members are encouraged to be proactive and contribute to the success of the engagement.

EY encourages frequent reflection on your career and provides its people with the stage to aspire. The balance of challenges and opportunities created by the EY people and culture is where I continue to better myself as a professional and build on a strong force with the team.

What is your role at EY?

Content of work at turnaround and restructuring strategy is broad in nature. A typical day starts with goal setting and listening to inquiries. This involves varied problem solving and demonstration of such services through active planning. My daily focus is to build on resilience when faced with a problem, big or small. This for example is achieved through active listening to anticipate future client needs, to deliver success through overcoming hurdles.

One of the challenges of this position is to be your leader from day 1, driven by proactiveness of sharing your thoughts and opinions with the team. Since this field of work is broad, there is a strong need to self-navigate with efficiency and leverage the team’s collaboration to maximize the quality of the services.

What is your impression of EY’s culture and your colleagues?

My first impression of EY has not changed – EY embraces its diverse talents with a core support system. I believe that the power of EY comes from its diverse talents across different fields, stimulating from uniting the force of different backgrounds and perspectives we all hold. Being able to work across audit and consulting has been influential, welcoming different perspectives and building lasting relationships.

With EY providing frequent opportunities for reflection and feedback throughout the year, you are highly encouraged to be the better version of yourself; creating the stage for self-reflection and obtaining feedback from individuals of different service lines you have worked with. This support system has helped me understand my strengths and weaknesses even clearer, owning to build a better working world.

What motivates you? What gives you the most satisfaction?

I feel most rewarded when we are overcoming hurdles as a team since these moments push the team to grow and help build strong trust. Over time, you learn to develop a deep understanding of the client as a team while maximizing the quality of service; fulfillment deriving from relationships built with the team and client.

What are your career aspirations and goals?

Through this global EY experience, I would like to be in a solid position to give back and help others. Our world is constantly changing, and I want to leave the world a better place than I initially found it to be, through my daily goal to do the right thing to the longer-term goal of being a leader to shape tomorrow’s leaders.
